Forest For The Trees

I hope you enjoy these forest images and will consider bringing them into your living or workspace. The energy of trees can really help to create a soothing and peaceful environment. My personal attraction to trees and the forest extends deep within my psyche and I am fortunate that my other work as a local mountain guide and photography workshop leader allows me to spend so much time wandering the forests of our region in search of the ‘magic of trees‘. Many are from the endangered Hemlock grove in Swallow Falls State Park.

"The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness." John Muir
“Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky.” Kahlil Gibran
“Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth.” Herman Hesse
“The trees in the storm don’t try to stand up straight and tall and erect. They allow themselves to bend and be blown with the wind. They understand the power of letting go,” continued the voice. “Those trees and those branches that try too hard to stand up strong and straight are the ones that break. Now is not the time for you to be strong, Julia, or you, too, will break. Learn the power of the trees. Let it flow. Let it go. That is the way you are going to make it through this storm. And that is the way to make it through the storms of life.” Julia Butterfly Hill
Julia Butterfly Hill lived for 738 days, from December 1997 to December 1999, in the canopy of a giant 1500 year old redwood tree named Luna. She ended her revolutionary action when an agreement was made with Pacific Lumber Company to spare the tree and a 200 foot buffer zone surrounding the tree.
Julia Butterfly Hill is to me what Heros and Saints are made of.
During her stay on “Luna,” Hill could often be seen climbing barefoot and without rope or harness.
